These birds feed primarily on fish. Occasionally, they can eat water birds, or mammals. When soaring, these birds are able to conserve energy by making only slight movements with their wings. They are opportunistic feeders and don’t have to hunt every day. When hunting, these predators rely on their excellent eyesight. They are able to swoop down very rapidly, dive and swim under water. A beak and talons of these predators are a strong weapon. They are made of keratin, so they grow continuously and wear down during the hunt.
