The scientific name of the bird means “white-headed.” The species is distinguished by a white head and tail. Adult males and females are identical in color. This is a rare case, when females are considerably larger than males. Young birds are those who have not reached sexual maturity and are younger than 4 or 5 years old. They are almost solid brown without white markings on the head and tail. A beak and talons of the youth are black.
